4/6/2010

Order : Falconiformes
Family : Accipitridae
Scientific Name : Aquila fasciatus

57cm in size. Adult in flight has a unique combination of white underbody (variably streaked black on the breast), three-toned underwings and dark terminal band to the pale tail. The whitish patch on the upper back is also a good field mark. Immature underbody and wing lining vary from light buff to rufuous in colour; the flight featthers and tail have indistinct fine barring; there is a large pale 'comma' patch at the base of the dark-tipped primaries. Well-wooded areas.
