Order : Falconiformes
Family : Accipitridae
Scientific Name : Milvus migrans
61cm in size. The only common large dark raptor with a forked tail, though the latter may appear slightly rounded when spread and tail feathers are being moulted. Beware of other raptors occasionally giving a fork-tailed appearance beacause of lost or moulting tail feathers. In flight told from the other races by its larger size and conspicuous white primary-patch on the underwing; at rest the slightly paler underparts without any hint of rufous are indicative. Common scavenger around many human settlements and surrounding areas.
